ITC Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice

The Level 4 Award in IQA is for those who need to provide Internal Quality Assurance for training centres delivering courses which have an element of assessment.

The role of the IQA is important to maintain the quality of qualifications delivered by a training centre. Good IQA will protect the learners, support the development of trainers and assessors and provide evidence for the Awarding Organisation that policy and procedures are being followed.

This course consists of two units:

  1. Understanding the principles and practices of internally assuring the quality of assessment (6 credits)

  2. Internally assure the quality of assessment (6 credits)

Topics include:

Unit 1: Roles & responsibilities, key concepts, planning IQA, monitoring IQA, sampling techniques, information management, equality & diversity and using technology.

Unit 2: Applying the principles of internal quality assurance (IQA).  E.g. planning, evaluation, improvement, management, maintaining records etc.  This unit requires evidence of applying IQA in an assessment centre. Typically, the opportunity to carry out IQA processes on a minimum of two assessors who in turn have a minimum of two candidates to assess, is required.

This course is delivered using Moodle (an online learning platform). All work towards the assessed portfolio is also uploaded onto Moodle. This means that you can complete the course in your own time with full support from your tutor/assessor online, by email or by phone.

Your assessor will also conduct a face-to-face observation of IQA activity taking place and complete an observation report for your portfolio.

Course dates: You can start on any date you wish following the completion of a registration form and payment of the course fee. You will have 12 months from this date to complete the course.

Course cost: £550 to include registration, access to Moodle and all training and assessment activities, one face-to-face observation visit from your assessor, all Internal and External moderation as required by the Awarding Organisation (ITC).
