18 Hour advanced outdoor first aid course

This course for First Aid trainers who wish to deliver the 16 hour Outdoor First Aid course.

As well as completing the Advanced Outdoor First Aid course you will also gain an understanding of how to deliver the standard Outdoor First Aid course.

During the two days we will explore training and assessment methods, setting up and running practical assessment scenarios and discuss the resources required to deliver a great Outdoor First Aid course.

You will leave with the knowledge, qualifications and understanding to enable you to deliver and assess the 16 hour Outdoor First Aid course.

You should already hold a regulated First Aid at Work qualification and be delivering first aid training to attend this course. You should also have already completed a regulated 16 hour Outdoor First Aid course (or aim to do so before this course) in order to have the basic understanding of managing casualties in more remote and hostile environments. Holding these qualifications will then also enable you to become an Outdoor First Aid trainer/assessor.

Advanced Outdoor First Aid course content includes:

Initial skills assessment
Advanced incident management
Triage, vital signs and proactive casualty monitoring
Dealing with collapse and breathing problems
Cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
Internal/external bleeding and the treatment of shock
